Settings Page for mobile app: Roundout

Roundout is the go-to platform for students seeking study buddies, eager to connect with peers who share their academic interests, discover study materials, and engage with fellow learners from across the globe. We tried to make its setting page less overwhelming and clutered.

The settings are categorized into distinct sections, making it easy for users to find what they're looking for without having to sift through unrelated options.

The design starts with the Pro Member status, which is a clever way to immediately convey important account information. It then follows a logical flow from personal settings down to more general app settings.

Account is typically the first category users look for. It includes personal information, security settings, and account preferences.

General refers to a group of miscellaneous settings that don't fit into specific categories. Placing them on the main page of settings could make the design appear too heavy and overloaded. However, combining settings like language preferences, region, time zones, and others can simplify the cognitive load on users. This can be achieved by providing a known catch-all section for various standard app settings.

Study Session Reminders: Separating study session reminders from general notifications acknowledges their importance and provides students with the tools to stay organized, a key component for academic success.

Integration: As students often use multiple apps for their academic work, integration settings are critical. They allow users to connect Roundout with other tools and calendars, making the app a seamless part of their study workflow.

Feedback & Support: Direct access to feedback and support empowers users to communicate issues and suggestions, enhancing the relationship between the service provider and the user. This transparency can lead to improvements in the app and increased user satisfaction.

About: An 'About' section is standard in app settings, offering users information about the app version, the company, terms of service, privacy policy, and other legal or informational content.

The settings such as Themes, Notifications, and Sync provide users with control over their app experience, which leads to a more personalized and therefore more comfortable use of the app.

The 'Log out' button is prominently placed at the bottom, making it straightforward for users to locate and use when they need to switch accounts or secure their account when not in use. This is a common design pattern that users are familiar with, which can increase their confidence in navigating the app. Clearly displaying the user's email address helps users quickly verify which account they are logged in with. This is particularly useful in an environment where multiple users might share the same device or for users who have multiple accounts.

To sum it up, our goal was to make the app user-friendly and simple so that users can easily access the settings without feeling overwhelmed. We believe that this will have a positive impact on the user experience, as it will allow efficient navigation and customization of the app to meet individual needs.
